On stage, John Wain stars as John Wayne. John Wain, who portrays the "Duke", starring in the John Wayne Story at the Little Opry Theatre at the Imax in Branson, Missouri. He recreates scenes we remember from the "Alamo", "Big Jake" and other John Wayne Movies. |

| P.S. WI John Wayne Story Recommendation: Yes Ratings: 5 of 5 November 17, 2004 11:27 AM I saw this show a couple of years ago during our stay in Branson. This is one of the finest shows in Branson and the highlight of our trip. We had a group of 7, from age 12 on up. Everyone enjoyed the show equally. John does some audience participation for which my son and daughter were involved. It was one of the delights of their lives. This show honors the cowboy as well as the patriotism in our country. We all felt great joy and felt touching pride while watching this show. I highly recommend it for all ages. It is well worth the price not to mention we left the theatre feeling as though we had met the "real" John Wayne. A truly patriotic talented man! |

| C. L. Doole, TX Branson Show: John Wayne Story Recommendation: Yes Ratings: 5 of 5 Date: July 25, 2004 Time: 7:28 AM The John Wayne Story in the IMAX Little Opry Theater is an excellent show to see and hear for anyone who liked John Wayne. John Wain is a great impersonator of John Wayne. His voice, style, walk, and his own beliefs all reflect the image of John Wayne as seen on screen. John Wain's interaction with his audience is even true to John Wayne's character, especially in regard to women. There was a woman in our show on the first row who was really giving him a hard time. It was very comical in the way he treated her, just as I would imagine John Wayne would - his mannerisms and all. She could've ruined the show, but his comebacks and actions didn't allow for that. He was wonderful!! John includes the audience by allowing them to participate in his show. A person feels very comfortable in working with him. I played the part of Kathryn Hepburn in the movie, "Rooster Cogburn". John makes you feel at ease on stage. Just being near him makes one believe that "the Duke" is really there. John Wain was respectful to all the people who attended his performance. My husband and I even saw him the following day at a flea market, and he remembered us and visited with us again. He was there doing some shopping on his own, and I thought that was very admirable of him to acknowledge us. John Wain also does a wonderful impersonation of Walter Brennan. He walks and even talks like Walter did as "The Real McCoy". I would not recommend this show to anyone bringing small children. It lasts about 2-2 1/2 hrs. It's a tribute to John Wayne, so there is no singing with a band. It's mostly talk, and small children would get very restless. The IMAX Little Opry Theater was the best theater out of the three or four others we were in while there. We were there July 16-21. We liked the seating. No matter where you sit, you can see the stage very well. We highly recommend seeing anything in this theater. I thought the theater was a little too cool, but I had a light jacket so I was fine. We also saw "Hank Williams Revisited" and attended Cowboy Church in this theater. This was the first visit to Branson for us and hopefully won't be the last. We enjoyed ourselves tremendously! |

I. S. Guntersville, AL Branson Show: John Wayne Story Recommendation: Yes Ratings: 4 of 5 Date: May 28, 2004 Time: 3:07 PM Though not a musical show, if you're a John Wayne fan, this is a good show to see. John Wain does an excellent job as John Wayne.... telling lots of stories we didn't know, showing a few film clips and doing a great job as John Wayne himself. Walter Brennan made an appearance also - in the person of John Wain - he's quite a talented performer. The show is at the Little Opry Theatre in the Imax complex with excellent acoustics and seating elevated enough to see from anywhere. Lots of patriotism in this show... makes you want to stand up and salute the flag. This was a different type of show than any of the others we saw in Branson – but enjoyable just the same. My hubby is an avid John Wayne fan and he enjoyed it tremendously. |
